Visions• Goals• Action Plans

Have you ever made a vision board filled with Goals and dream homes and cars? Business ventures and dogs? Or have you ever journaled or just simply wrote out your goals?

Yes?

Well this blog will help you move those goals from your Vision Boards and journals and into motion.

Goals are just that Goals when you don't have a plan of action as to how you are going to achieve them.

In this blog I am going to share with you the steps I take when trying to achieve a goal.

The first thing you should do is write them down. Make a list of everything you'd like to achieve. Some say that a goal becomes a plan once you write it down and why this is partially true it takes a little more than just a list of goals to make them a plan.

You have to focus on what it will take to achieve each of these goals. Break these goals up and generally write down what would need to be done to ultimately say you've accomplished these goals.

For example if your goal is to buy or lease a car here is what step one and step two should look like

Goal:

I want to buy a car

  • things I'll need to do in order to buy this car
  • Fix my credit.
  • Save money from each paycheck
  • Look for insurance
  • Search dealers for affordable cars.

Next you need to give yourself a deadline:

Without a deadline these goals become something you'll eventually get to. And making a goal something you have time to get to could ultimately lead to you never achieving this goal.

Next step

  • I will give myself 6 months to achieve this goal.

You want to also make the goal, the steps to achieve the goal and the deadline REALISTIC.

Can you fix your credit and save x amount dollars in 6 months.

If not give yourself 10 months.

The next thing you want to think about is obstacles that may occur while on this path to achieving this goal. Preparing yourself for the "what ifs" will have you a step ahead. No you can't predict everything that may occur but you can prepare for the most common.

•obstacles/ things to lookout or prepare for

  • Not getting enough hours in my check to set aside my specific dollar amount,
  • Insurance being too expensive
  • If I need a co signer who can I ask

When you are writing out your action plan include these "what ifs"

When setting goals and trying to achieve them you have to stay focus.

You could also rank the goals from most important to least important. Somethings you absolutely need done within the year and other things you have time to think about and plan for, but remember you can still construct a plan for achieving those goals even if you are not planning to achieve the goal for another 2-5 years.

So if you create a vision board it is much better to write down a deadline, steps you need to take to achieve the goal and "what ifs" and how you plan to handle the process if something discouraging pops up.

Try this for your top 2 goals you'd like to achieve this year. Follow these steps and track how long it took you to complete the goal before the action plan and now after.
